Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase Class III
Representative Proteins
Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase Class III was analysed in the following species using BLAST:
-
Homo sapiens
-
Saccharomyces cerevisiae
-
Mus musculus
-
Drosophila melanogaster
(Flatfile link)
-
Arabidopsis thaliana
Despite differences in the amino acid sequences and lengths, the representative proteins of PI3k Class III in various species shown above share similar functions to transport proteins and vesicles in their conserved domains. The specific functions of these domains are described here.

BLAST Analysis of Representative Proteins
The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) is used to identify similar regions between nucleotide or protein sequences. A BLAST search compares the query sequence, entered in FASTA format, with sequence databases, and calculates the degree of similarity between both sequences. The expect value ‘E’ reported represents the probability of obtaining a sequence match by chance. BLAST can be used for locating domains in proteins and positions of chromosomes, and to identify both functional and evolutionary connections between sequences.
